A taste of Filipino...

Sunday night our gym trainers came over for supper, and Miko and me (Melissa) cooked a truly Filipino meal for the family for a second time. It was a lot of fun and we tried many different things. I got to cook him a dish I created and also a dessert I made up. Then he cooked 3 other dishes, and of course we made rice!
Miko & Joanne (Miko's fiance) and Melissa in the back

They brought gifts and Bevan & Jeremy got hats made from the fibers of coconuts. Jeremy didn't take it off until they left!

Both me and Miko love to cook! My family is still learning to appreciate the true smells of good cooking! (Aka- strong smells of garlic, onions and fish in this case)

The MENU
  • Sweet chicken adobo- Canadian style (My dish)

  • Humba (a tasty pork dish in a vineger sauce)

  • Bagoong(a unique experience...Filipinos seem to love it! I tried it and wasn't sure....but it was better as I ate more. What it is, is a fishy shrimp mix on sour green mangoe-but for dinner we ate it in a salad. It was one of a kind for sure and I actually enjoyed the new experience! But I'm not sure my family thought the same...)

  • Fried fish

  • Rice
