Our jeepney ride down to the market.
This is the skin off a pig's head. Can you see the ears, eye hole and the snout hanging down?? WARNING the following images are graphic and disturbing in nature. You may never want to eat a pig again. Parental guidance is advised.
These are intestines. Nicely cleaned to wrap sausages!
Dried fish.
All kinds of rice!
Knives and Machetes.
The flower section.
Two little boys eating green mangoes. So that is the main market here. The pictures just don't quite capture it though. The smell, the grime, the heat, the flies, cockroaches and rats and everybody staring as you walk by. Dad even had a cockroach climb up his leg! Melissa was very grossed out and Whitney walked through most of the meat section with her nose plugged. Unfortunately we picked the absolutely hottest day to go, so we didn't stay too long because we were very hot, sticky and sweaty!

Well, Emily, I guess you can be glad then that I don't teach Bio 11.... I took my students to help me butcher a cow. Not only would you see a cow done up like that pig, you would be helping...or not. Most of my students refused to eat meat for over a week ( and beef for even longer). I can't understand why. :-)
Imagine 7 years of market experiences just like that...
you will have a brief picture of why i still struggle to eat any meat of any kind except fish and it is now 8 years later.. yeah.
